Application

Please complete this Application.

Bee Mighty began by supporting micro preemies, because that was our personal journey. We learned quickly that there are so many other tiny warriors that need similar support.

In January 2013, we expanded our reach to include any baby needing significant medical care, whereby they spent 50+ days in Presbyterian Hemby Children's Hospital NICU. (Depending on funding and capacity, our hope is to expand to include all Charlotte babies, regardless of hospital before yearend).

Once a family has been identified and after all other community, state and federal programs have been exhausted, Bee Mighty becomes active, allowing children access to medical equipment and therapies (traditional and alternative), as well as providing the families a financial reprieve, when no other option is available to them.

When completing your application, please provide a letter from the requested service provider stating that the requested therapy is not covered by insurance (and/or Medicaid), or that insurance has been exhausted, as well as detailing the benefit of services to the child and the cost. (Your application cannot be considered without this required documentation).

The selection committee appreciates the time you invest in your application. We personally understand the challenges of having a micro preemie and wish we could support every request. Our mission is to invest in the development of children through therapy and medical equipment, and currently our criterion requires that each child must be a former Presbyterian Hemby's ICN patient.

We hope to expand our footprint, based on capacity in the future. Please revisit our site or sign up for our newsletter for future updates and an opportunity to reapply.

If you meet the aforementioned criteria, please complete the following application. To submit online, click 'Submit Application' and attach the application (and additional documentation) to the corresponding email. You can also mail your application to:

Testimonials

Adults get rehabilitation services to return to their vocation after illness or injury interrupts their life. For children, their vocation is play. Illness or injury doesn't just interrupt their life, it interrupts their development.

Therapy of all kinds is essential to provide children with special needs the opportunity to reach their maximal potential. That potential may be years down the road and the results of therapy may be in minute increments. Insurance at times does not recognize the importance of therapy in children and those children suffer.

As a pediatric therapist who works in a hospital, I see the effects of limited or no therapy as children enter my doors for other procedures or recurrent illness. Lack of access to therapy can cause lead to serious deficits like permanent deformity, limited skill development, or lack of locomotion.

I am still haunted to this day by a child, who lived in this state who was denied both therapy services and a wheelchair by insurance. Bee mighty will fill such a need for so many families. Therapy should not be budgeted out by families in need because their insurance insufficiencies
